135 – 1 June 2017 – Hunterian sculpture garden

On the left is Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s salvaged lantern from Pettigrew & Stephens department store, part-swathed in polythene, and to the right a sculptural group by Jake Harvey, titled Tools for the Shaman.  Yesterday’s Kelvingrove sketch has bled through underneath.

The courtyard has a slightly dreary, oppressive vibe – possibly the towering surroundings of the University library and gallery mean not much can grow there, and the architecture is also pretty brutal, although I enjoyed the contrasts for the purposes of this.
