416 March in Edinburgh 11 June 2018604

I marched as part of “participatory artwork” Processions in Edinburgh yesterday to celebrate 100 years since the partial suffrage of women – my friends and I were near the front, wearing white scarves, while women to the right and left wore purple and green, the suffragette colours. After the march we rested under Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park. It was quite strange being on a celebratory march – no fist-pumping speeches afterwards – and I was amazed how many people lined the streets, and waved from windows. It was lovely turning the corner into Princes Street and seeing that the National Galleries had dressed up too.
