20 January 2017. #3. Indian doll

I’m not really a doll person – this is the only one I own – but I saw this years ago in a Govanhill charity shop and it’s one of my favourite objects. She’s incredibly pretty; the fabric is fabulous, a weird psychedelic 60s print; she has a little veil and a woven basket attached to her head; woolly pigtails; and the sweetest expression on her cloth face which is slightly tilted with a quizzical expression. Her hands however, are clumsy spades. The red and green detailing at her forehead is green beads woven with red thread, and she wears a medal with, I think Arabic writing.
